SEISMIC DATA INTERPRETATION
INTERPRETATION:
Saudi Geophysical Consulting interprets high-resolution and non-high-resolution seismic data to delineate the shallow geologic framework of
a survey area. Processing, interpretation, and analysis of the seismic stratigraphy are performed
within a suite of programs designed for this task. The Landmark SeisWorks or Charisma Geoframe interpretation software
enables the visualization, interpretation, and to some extent the modeling of a large quantity of data
within a study area. Stratigraphic data and surface models are displayed within a GIS and can be integrated with other data types for
better and further analysis.
Saudi Geophysical Consulting understands the OBJECTIVES for Interpretation of seismic data, which are: Reduce structural risk by a better mapping and imaging of the deep targets currently beyond available resolution. Detailed imaging and mapping of fault patterns. To illuminate drillable structures. Delineation of various compartments in the oil fields for optimum production and injection purposes & any possible extension of the existing oil fields. The common assumption that seismic data contain a broad band - zero phase wavelet is nearly always wrong. The majority of mis-tie problems between seismic and synthetics, seismic to seismic of different vintages, and many of the misinterpretations based on modeling (lithology prediction, trace attributes, AVO, etc.) are the result of mixed-phase wavelets remaining in fully processed seismic data. The primary pitfall causing mis-ties between synthetic and seismic traces is when traces do not contain the same wavelet. Seismic data typically contain a mixed-phase wavelet; but pur people before interpreting the seismic data, makes sure that the wavelet for the traces be ZERO PHASE. The Interpreter's approach is based on the identification of reflector discontinuities by visual inspection of the frequency – dependent amplitude anomalies. We would like not to produce artifacts that can deceive our interpretation team and they should be able to see properly that when picking horizons; XX formation is PICKED from the trough, xx formation from the peak, yy from the trough of the wavelet of the reflected horizon and there goes on with all the other formations.
Because of the combination of geology and geophysics, it is an important ingredient that on the processing stage,
the interpreters provide with their expertise to the seismic data processor. One of the most important problems in
the interpretation is the identification and detection of faults and fault zones. We delivered interpreted PSTM or PSDM
SEG-Y data and/or we provide on-site consultancy.
The interpretation of features mapped using a seismic data set is based on acoustic impedance differences of subsurface material. Contact us, for furter details about our INTERPRETATION services.
