This reflection method works in a way that whenever there is a change in the velocity of propagation, energy is reflected. The time between the generation of energy and reception of the signal is measured; the calculation of the relative positions of the various strata is determined to find the true depth of the strata. Later on, the time scale must be converted to a depth scale, while the seismic data is manipulated in final processing.
