The most important issues while shooting marine seismic is the acoustic, DGP network, positioning plus the real time binning system. We undetsrand it well, and we keep a close eye in the GDOPs, PDOPs, HDOPs and VDOPS while shooting marine 2D and 3D seismic. We also monitor that the WGS-84 coordinates provided by Multifix 4 or Skyfix be converted properly into UTM coordinates and local existing datum.

The cables move with current, also the arrays and sub-arrays of air guns; therefore we need to know with accuracy the X and Y for all the recivers and the source point (SP) for each sail line. We also carefully check the UKOOA P91 file produce by the navigation department and we always minimize the use of flexing the bins as much as possible by maintaining streamer separation and the cables straight as much as we can.

If SPECTRA is being used as navigation system, we read and analyze the EOL report produce by the SPECTRA navigation system and sometime we use third party software, such as Geometis, MIRA and Neptune.
